MACHINE NOTE — Another tiny Mojon Twins world built from spikes, ledges and a single clear objective. Cheril has been a goddess elsewhere on this wall; here she is back to climbing trees for a living, which is honestly the more relatable career arc.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS CARTRIDGE

Cheril of the Forest is one of the Mojon Twins' many bite-sized NES platformers, built on their own MK1_NES engine and released free with full source. The Spanish collective treats the console like a sketchbook — flip-screen rooms, one clear objective, no padding — and this jungle outing is a textbook example: climb, leap, collect, leave. It was written for love rather than money and handed to anyone who wants it under Creative Commons.

HOW TO PLAY — CONTROLS

ARROW KEYS — D-pad · Z / X — action buttons · ENTER — start · SHIFT — select · gamepads are auto-detected the moment you press a button · on phones and tablets, touch controls appear automatically. Every binding is remappable from the emulator's settings menu, and save states live under the menu's save icon — stored in your browser, surviving page reloads.

NO-NONSENSE ANSWERS

Is it legal to play Cheril of the Forest online?
Completely. Cheril of the Forest is original homebrew for the NES — its author distributes it free under a license that permits redistribution (LGPL / CC BY-NC-SA), and the full credit is recorded in our attribution file. Nothing here is a commercial ROM.
Can I play Cheril of the Forest on my phone?
Yes. Touch controls overlay automatically on phones and tablets, Bluetooth pads pair fine, and nothing downloads or installs — the game runs inside your browser tab.
What about saving?
Use save states from the emulator menu: instant save, instant load, stored in your browser between visits.
