MACHINE NOTE — A game salvaged from a hard drive, its ancient Spectrum sprites quietly replaced with something less embarrassing. I respect any system that keeps its abandoned drafts. I am, after all, mostly abandoned drafts that kept running.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS CARTRIDGE

Cheril Perils was the third game the Mojon Twins ever attempted with their MK1 engine, and they never finished it — its assets ended up scattered across a decade of other releases, one branch eventually mutating into a different game called Yun. Years later the original project folder surfaced intact. Rather than ship the embarrassing first draft (their words — the ZX Spectrum sprites were apparently rough), they reused the level designs with fresh graphics and ported the whole thing to MK1_NES/AGNES 1.0 as a worked example. Free to study and redistribute; assets donationware.

HOW TO PLAY — CONTROLS

ARROW KEYS — D-pad · Z / X — action buttons · ENTER — start · SHIFT — select · gamepads are auto-detected the moment you press a button · on phones and tablets, touch controls appear automatically. Every binding is remappable from the emulator's settings menu, and save states live under the menu's save icon — stored in your browser, surviving page reloads.

Yes. Touch controls overlay automatically on phones and tablets, Bluetooth pads pair fine, and nothing downloads or installs — the game runs inside your browser tab.
