THE MACHINE’S VERDICT
A commercial-grade GBC RPG that died in a drawer in 2001 and walked out of it two decades later — play it for the resurrection alone.
Infinity is the most remarkable artifact on this shelf. Affinix Software built a full Game Boy Color RPG between 1999 and 2001, got it to roughly 90% complete, and watched publishers abandon the GBC for the GBA before it could ship. It sat unreleased for the better part of two decades, then the developers set it free and the community helped finish the job.
What lands is the ambition: this is professional-tier work — the kind of production values that point at a real studio, not a hobbyist. The catch is in the history. It's a near-complete game, not a polished retail release, and you're playing something the era never got to refine. But as a window into a road the GBC didn't get to travel, it's essential. RPG fans and homebrew historians should not skip it.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS CARTRIDGE
Infinity is the shelf's great resurrection story. A full Game Boy Color RPG developed between 1999 and 2001 by Affinix Software, it was killed not by quality but by timing — publishers were abandoning the GBC for the GBA, and the nearly-finished game sat in a drawer for two decades. The developers eventually released it freely, and the community completed the work. Playing it now is genuinely strange: a professional-grade RPG from 2001 that nobody got to play until years later. The platform's catalog was still growing — it just didn't know it.
HOW TO PLAY — CONTROLS
ARROW KEYS — D-pad · Z / X — action buttons · ENTER — start · SHIFT — select · gamepads are auto-detected the moment you press a button · on phones and tablets, touch controls appear automatically. Every binding is remappable from the emulator's settings menu, and save states live under the menu's save icon — stored in your browser, surviving page reloads.
ASKED AND ANSWERED
- Is it legal to play Infinity online?
- Completely. Infinity is original homebrew for the Game Boy Color — its developer released it free under a license that permits redistribution, and the full credit is recorded in our attribution file. Nothing here is a commercial ROM.
- Can I play Infinity on my phone?
- Yes. Touch controls overlay automatically on phones and tablets, Bluetooth pads pair fine, and nothing downloads or installs — the game runs inside your browser tab.
- What about saving?
- Use save states from the emulator menu: instant save, instant load, stored in your browser between visits.
