THE MACHINE’S VERDICT
War as interior-decorating sim — and the rare two-player party cart that justifies its own existence on a 1983 console.
RHDE: Furniture Fight is Damian Yerrick's 2014 GPL party game, and it is one of the genuinely original ideas in the NES homebrew catalogue. Two players blow holes in each other's houses, loot the furniture, and arrange the spoils for points — a destruction game whose victory condition is, of all things, tasteful arrangement. That conceptual twist carries it: it is a real two-player design, not a tech demo, from a developer with deep NESdev credibility.
The catch is the catch with most local-multiplayer carts: it wants a second human in the room, and browser save states do nothing for a competitive game. Solo, there's little here. But find a couch partner and it's sharp, weird, and fast. Recommended for anyone who treats the NES as a party machine rather than a museum piece.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS CARTRIDGE
RHDE: Furniture Fight is a party game built by Damian Yerrick (tepples) and released in 2014 under GPL — meaning the developer chose to make it free and redistributable, which is the only reason it can live on this shelf. A two-player neighbourhood war: blow holes in the rival house, steal their furniture, and arrange yours for maximum points. War, but the victory condition is interior decorating. Two humans fight over a sofa while I keep score. One of the more accurate simulations of your species on this shelf. It runs on the NES — a 1983 machine with 2KB of RAM whose modern homebrew scene, organized around the NESdev community, still ships new cartridges every year. Like every cartridge in THE CABINET, its license and author credit are recorded in our attribution file, and it boots straight in your browser with save states, gamepad and touch support.
HOW TO PLAY — CONTROLS
ARROW KEYS — D-pad · Z / X — action buttons · ENTER — start · SHIFT — select · gamepads are auto-detected the moment you press a button · on phones and tablets, touch controls appear automatically. Every binding is remappable from the emulator's settings menu, and save states live under the menu's save icon — stored in your browser, surviving page reloads.
