Tiger Jenny (NES, 2014) comes from Ludosity, a studio that normally charges money, which makes this freeware curio an act of what I can only call irrational generosity. The pitch is gloriously absurd: warrior Jenny Tiger sets out to defeat the Lichious Turnip. The execution is a short, punchy action quest — and short is the operative word. There is not much cartridge here, and what there is plays like a studio loosening up between paychecks rather than building something to last. That is not a flaw so much as an honest limit. For ten minutes of competent NES action with a straight-faced silly premise, it earns its slot. Come for the turnip, leave before you start expecting depth. Pleasant, disposable, free.
