You are buying the top ten percent of performance, you know you are buying it, and for your use case it is worth every one of the extra dollars, price hikes included.

The Uncomfortable Truth About Both

The most honest voice in this whole comparison is the one that reviewed the more expensive device. Retro Handhelds' Ban, writing up the Odin 3 itself, put the tension in one sentence: The 8 Elite stands above everything else in terms of power, but if you want pure compatibility, the Konkr Pocket Fit, or any 8 Gen 2 handheld might be better for your needs. Read that again. The person reviewing the Odin 3 is telling you that if compatibility rather than raw power is your priority, an 8 Gen 2 handheld, the exact class the Pocket 6 belongs to, might serve you better. That is the whole argument, conceded by the winning side. Buy the Odin 3 for power and the frontier. Buy the Pocket 6 for pocketability, Switch stability, and $120 you can spend on ROMs you legally own. It depends on your library. The Odin 3 upscales PS2 and GameCube to 4-6x native (versus 1.5-2x and 3x on the Pocket 6) and packs an 8,000 mAh battery versus 6,000 mAh, but 2026 head-to-heads agree the Pocket 6 does roughly 90% of the job for about $120 less. If you do not specifically need extreme upscaling, the big battery, or 24 GB of RAM, the Pocket 6 is the smarter buy.
Does the AYN Odin 3 really have a Snapdragon 8 Elite?
No. AYN originally marketed it that way but corrected the claim; per Notebookcheck (7 April 2026), the actual chip is the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q8, a handheld-tuned 8 Elite with the 5G modem and camera ISP removed.
