Do I need HDMI 2.1 for a 4K gaming monitor?
For 4K at 120Hz from a PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X, yes — HDMI 2.0 tops out around 14.4 Gbit/s and will silently cap you at 4K/60. Full 4K/160 at 10-bit needs a true HDMI 2.1 link (~42.7 Gbit/s) or DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC. Verify the port; Lowi did not disclose the M27U's loadout.
What's the difference between 1ms MPRT and 1ms GtG?
MPRT (Moving Picture Response Time) measures how long a pixel stays visible in motion and is often driven to 1ms by backlight strobing. GtG (grey-to-grey) measures the actual pixel colour transition. A panel can advertise 1ms MPRT while its real GtG is 5ms or slower — they answer different questions, and quoting MPRT alone is a marketing tell.
How much GPU do I need for 4K 160Hz?
A lot, and even then you will lean on upscaling. Native 4K/160 in demanding 2026 titles is a top-of-stack workload — the reason our RTX 5090 review exists — and dropping to a 12GB card like the RTX 5070 invites VRAM-driven stutter at 4K. Budget the graphics card before the monitor, not after.
